NL Men

Privacy Policy

Last updated November 2, 2026

This policy explains what NL Men collects, who can see it, and how to remove it. The short version: we collect only what the group needs to work, members see each other's contact details, and we never sell or advertise with anyone's information.

NL Men is run by volunteers from the group, not by New Life Church. The church doesn't receive or have access to members' information.

What we collect

  • Your name, email address and mobile number, and anything you add to your profile.
  • A profile photo, if you choose to add one.
  • When you're usually free during the week, if you fill that in.
  • Your notification and pairing settings.
  • If you turn on phone notifications, a notification address for each device you turn them on for. It doesn't include your phone number or location.
  • Events you host, your RSVPs and the comments you post on events.
  • Prayer requests you share, any updates you add, and which requests you said you're praying for.
  • Who invited you, and who joined through your invite link.
  • Your weekly pairings and whether you marked that you connected.
  • Sign-in records: when you request a sign-in link we note the email and network address, only to block abuse, and delete them after two days.

Who can see what

  • Every member can see your name, phone number, email, photo and profile note, the events you host, your RSVPs and comments, and who invited you.
  • Prayer requests are seen by every member, or only by the admins if you choose “Just the leaders”. If you share one without your name, other members see “A brother”; the admins can still see who asked. Members see how many men are praying for a request, not who.
  • No one sees your weekly availability on its own. Hosts only see how many men are free in each time slot.
  • Your pairing is visible to the men you're paired with and to the group's admins.
  • Admins (a few volunteers from the group) can see member lists, invite counts and pairing activity, to look after the group.

How we use it

To run the directory, events, comments, prayer requests and weekly pairing, to send the emails and phone notifications you've chosen to receive, and to keep the site secure. Prayer requests never go out by email, and their phone notifications never show what was asked. That's all. No ads, no selling or renting data, no tracking or advertising cookies. The only cookie keeps you signed in.

Services we rely on

Your data is stored and processed in the United States by the providers that run the site: Supabase (database, sign-in and photo storage), Vercel (hosting) and Resend (email delivery). They handle it only to provide their service to us. Profile photos are stored under random file names and only shown on member pages.

Phone notifications travel through your phone's own notification service (Apple, Google or Mozilla). When a host searches for an event's place, what he types goes to Google Maps to suggest places; nothing about him or anyone else is sent with it. Directions links open Apple Maps or Google Maps with the event's address; we look at what kind of device tapped the link only to pick which, and keep nothing.

If you subscribe your calendar, your calendar app fetches the group's events (or only yours) from a private link that only you have. You can reset that link in settings.

Texts and calls

NL Men doesn't send text messages or place calls. The call and text buttons open your phone's own apps, so those conversations happen between you and the other man, outside this site.

Your choices

  • Edit your profile, availability and notifications any time in settings.
  • Turn off event emails or comment alerts, or pause pairings, from settings or from the link in any such email.
  • Turn phone notifications off in settings, or in your phone's own settings.
  • Edit, mark answered or delete your prayer requests whenever you like.
  • Delete your account from settings. That removes your profile, photo, availability, RSVPs, comments, prayer requests, the events you host and your pairing history right away. Copies in our providers' routine backups are overwritten on their normal schedule.

Security

Access requires a one-time link sent to a member's email, and the database only lets signed-in members see member data. No system is perfectly secure, so please share only what you're comfortable with other members knowing.

Age

NL Men is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes and questions

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll ask you to review it the next time you sign in. Questions or requests: hello@nlmen.com.
